The REACH regulation, which came into force on June 1st 2007 and whose implementation will proceed in stages until 2018, lays down the specific duties and obligations of manufacturers, importers and downstream users of substances on their own, in preparations and in articles. The new law is based on the principle that manufacturers, importers and users should ensure that human health and the environment are not adversely affected by the substances they produce, import, market or use.
