Code of ethics

Our Code of Ethics is a set of rules of conduct applicable to particular areas of our business. The Code of Ethics contains a set of Core Values translating into particular behaviours and attitudes related to certain areas, such as:

  • Relations with the local community
  • Cooperation with external customers
  • Relations with employees

Observance of the rules defined by the Code of Ethics guarantees consistency our conduct with our Corporate Values and helps build our new corporate culture. Where a particular matter is not provided for in the Code of Ethics, the Company’s Core Values offer guidance for making a relevant decision on a case-by-base basis.

Compliance with the Code of Ethics is overseen by an Ethics Officer. The idea to create the position of an Ethics Officer emerged in 2005 during work on defining our Company’s core values. At that time, a question emerged what mechanisms need to be implemented to prevent the Code of Ethics from becoming a dead letter. In response, an idea was put forward to collectively elect an Ethics Officer, a person enjoying public trust, who would ensure that the provisions of the document are complied with.

The Ethics Officer at PKN ORLEN has precisely defined tasks, powers and rights. His or her role it to ensure that employees can freely express their opinions, often concerning violation or infringement of the law or the Code of Ethics, without fear of any sanctions.
