Already at 30 petrol stations belonging to the PKN ORLEN network customers can pay in euro. Until the end of the year payments in the European currency will be possible at about 100 stations operating under the ORLEN brand. The Company also expands its services with the system of cash withdrawal while paying by card.

Pilot program for payments in euro was launched at the end of 2008 at a few stations. Following the successful verification of the system documenting payments in a foreign currency at filling stations included in the pilot program, further stations were added to the program.

- Until the end of the year we plan to enable payment in euro at over 60 stations within our network. We focus on the locations, where the largest number of foreign customers is served – Marek Podstawa, Executive Director for Retail Sales at PKN ORLEN said.

At petrol stations which accept payment in the currency of the European Monetary Union, there are leaflets and posters informing about the possibility to effectuate such transactions. Currency exchange rate EUR/PLN is established by reference to the current exchange rate of the National Bank of Poland (NBP). It is worth remembering that payment can be made with banknotes only, whereas change is given in PLN.

- Enabling customers of fuels stations belonging to the Holding company to effectuate payment in the single currency of the European Union required making changes to agreements with banks, training petrol station staff and introducing special operational instructions – Marek Podstawa added.

Since the beginning of this year, approx. 60 thousand euro in total filled up the cash registers at filling stations included in the program. This is not the only novelty in the range of services available in the PKN ORLEN network.

At over 100 ORLEN stations there is an ongoing pilot program of Cashback service. The innovation is to enable customers to withdraw small amounts of money at the petrol station counter, while making payment by payment card.
