Today at approximately 2:30 p.m. Lithuanian time a fire broke out in the Mażeikiu Nafta refinery, damaging a vacuum pipe tower distillation column. The are no casualties. The impact of the fire is yet undetermined. Although PKN ORLEN is not yet the formal owner of Mażeikiu Nafta, we will offer our assistance in coping the effects of the fire to the refinery, the local authorities and the community.

PKN ORLEN will analyze in detail the impact of this incident on the operating capacity of the Mazeikiu refinery and the company’s profitability. We will also analyze the report of the commission established in Lithuania to determine the causes of this incident. PKN ORLEN expects that the incident will not have a significant impact on the transaction we are currently closing. PKN ORLEN is ready to cooperate closely with the Lithuanian government and Yukos International UK B.V. to resolve this situation.
