Pilot TESCO Express at ORLEN petrol stations

PKN ORLEN and Tesco Poland are testing a new format of convenience stores at ORLEN petrol filling stations. First store of this kind, was opened in Warsaw on Bennett street.

Habits of Polish customers shopping at petrol stations indicate that they expect not only high quality products and services associated with credible, recognizable brand, but also wide range of products. Cooperation of Tesco and ORLEN is an attempt to respond to the growing needs of customers and changing market trends.

TESCO Express at ORLEN stations is not only a new brand and interior, but above all, wider range of goods, including Tesco own brands, fruits and vegetables, and other products of well known brands. In new stores, customers will be able to use both, Vitay (ORLEN) and Clubcard (Tesco) loyalty cards.

First TESCO Express test store was opened at ORLEN station on Bennett 2 street (near Okecie airport) in Warsaw.

“We hope that cooperating with Tesco we will develop solutions providing our customers with the convenience and speed of doing everyday shopping during a visit in petrol station. We hope that the results of our cooperation will meet expectations of both, existing and new customers”- said Marek Balawejder, Executive Director, Head of Retail at PKN ORLEN.

“Tesco is always actively responding to changing customers` needs and market conditions. Using the experience from international markets, and position of the brand in Poland, Tesco decided to offer customers a new quality in the convenience segment, based on a test of strong and experienced cooperation partners, which are the PKN ORLEN and Tesco” - says Beata Gadamska, Business Change Director, responsible for the convenience program in Tesco Poland.

As part of the test program, partners chose 10 locations for new stores - Warsaw, Lodz and Krakow. The test will last for 12 months.
