Awards & Distinctions received in 2002

A Bull statuette and the 2001 Diploma of the Warsaw Stock Exchange for third place among WIG 20 index companies(Poland's blue chip index), in terms of trading volume, received during the inauguration of a new trading year.
 
A certificate and the title of the The Environmentally Friendly Company received during the third edition of Friends of the Environment Ecological Contest, organised under the auspices of Mr Aleksander Kwaśniewski, President of the Republic of Poland. The Contest's board appreciated ORLEN’s activities in the area of environmental protection, in particular the beneficial effect of the Hydrodesulphurisation of the Heavy Vacuum Residue Plant (Gudron Plant).

The title of Trusted Brand in the service stations category, granted to PKN ORLEN by the readers of Reader’s Digest. Trusted Brand is the largest opinion poll in Europe aiming at the identification of the brands most appreciated by consumers. The criteria were: quality, strong image, satisfaction of customer needs. 

For the third time in a row PKN ORLEN came first on the “List of 500“ largest Polish enterprises, published by the Rzeczpospolita daily. The main criterion was sales revenue in 2001.

The Market Leader title for ORLEN chip loyalty cards FLOTA, VITAY and prepaid cards – awarded in the third edition of the competition organised by Inter Res International Fair. Ekoterm Plus, a light fuel oil produced by PKN ORLEN received the same title.

Teraz Polska title and logo for ORLEN QAL coolant, awarded in the twelfth edition of the competition. ORLEN QAL has been awarded in two categories: chemical products and cosmetics. It is a heavy-duty, ready for use coolant, characterised by a low solidification point and high level of purity. A package of new-generation organic additives ensures excellent anti-corrosive and anti-cavitation protection of the engine cooling system. 

Two awards for ORLEN QAL at the tenth Jubilee International Show Room SIA 2002 in Kiev for the application of state-of-the-art technologies in the production process and for the display in the automobile show room in Kiev.
 
An award for ORLEN QAL in the third edition of the Europrodukt competition organised by the Zarządzanie i Finanse (Management and Finance) Publishing Office, publisher of the   Eurofakty magazine, to distinguish companies, products and institutions which comply with the EU standards. 

A gold medal for ORLEN QAL at the 51st World Exhibition of Innovation, Research and Modern Technologies Brussels Eureka 2002. An international jury primarily assessed the innovation of products. 

An award for A Leading Company in Poland For Corporate Governance, granted by the Euromoney Magazine, a prestigious European monthly devoted to financial markets. The award is granted to companies for the highest standards in financial transparency and excellent cooperation with investors. 

The bronze medal for PKN ORLEN awarded at the International Show Room of the Packaging and Logistics Techniques TAROPAK 2002 in Poznań., where the company presented its plastics offering.

First place for PKN ORLEN in the Best 2001 Financial Report of a Public and Non-Public Company competition organised by the Accountancy Development Foundation in Poland. PKN ORLEN received the distinction for the second time in a row. Furthermore, the company was also distinguished for “the value of the financial report as information and marketing material”. An additional special award was received from the Warsaw Stock of Exchange.

The Poznaj Świat magazine Editor's award for Ekodiesel Plus 50, a diesel oil. Earlier, the excellent properties of this product were appreciated by the Business Centre Club and the Commission of European Integration, which awarded it with the European Medal. Ekodiesel Plus 50 is a product which meets the requirements concerning global environmental protection. In terms of sulphur contents, it meets EU norms for the 2005 (0.005%).

Nomination of PKN ORLEN as a member of the Academy of Brands for a five-year term. The Polish Brand Institute and the Polish Promotion Foundation invited 100 companies to the Academy of Brands on behalf of the Polish Chamber of Commerce. The Academy gathers representatives of the Polish business spheres, and its aim is to restore the value to the company brand. 

The Golden Laurel of the Teleinfo 100 editor for PKN ORLEN as the best computerised company in the oil industry. The Teleinfo 100 experts estimate that the system employed at the integrated refining and petrochemical production complex in Płock is one of the most modern and most effective systems in Europe. 

European Medal for the Ekoterm Plus light fuel oil, awarded by the Office of the Committee for European Integration and the Business Centre Club.
