PKN ORLEN is once again supporting the organization of the Economic Forum in Krynica. The holding company, as an official partner of the event, will share its experience and knowledge on challenges the fuels and energy sector is facing in Central and Eastern Europe.

The Economic Forum in Krynica is organized for the nineteenth time. In the last dozen years or so, it has become one of the most important gatherings of the world’s political, economic and business elites. This year it will take place on 9-12 September under the banner of „European Solidarity – 20 years after revolution”.

Over 1500 persons are announced to attend the Forum: high-rank politicians, government and parliamentary delegations, experts, heads of central institutions, businessmen, economic organizations and NGOs from Europe, Central Asia, USA and Middle East.

As one of the largest economic entities in Central Europe, PKN ORLEN will have its representatives in several discussion panels. PKN ORLEN is the organizer of the panel entitled „Fuels Sector in Times of Crisis – Major Challenges and Opportunities” with participation of Jacek Krawiec – CEO of PKN ORLEN, Aleksander Grad – Minister of the State Treasury, Jacek Socha – Deputy CEO PricewaterhouseCoopers, Zsolt Hernadi – CEO of MOL, Paweł Olechnowicz – CEO of LOTOS Group S.A. and Michał Szubski – CEO of PGNiG S.A. During the panel the most important issues concerning our market, the competitive environment, and relations between the business enterprise sector and the government administration will be discussed. The experts will try to identify to what extent the crisis affected the fuels sector companies. An essential element of the discussion will be the attempt to evaluate the growth potential of the sector companies in the light of limitations in financing of current and investment activities. The panelists will also endeavour to define the role of the government administration in building the European energy solidarity and evaluate how durable and solid are the foundations of energy security of Central and Eastern Europe.

„For years we have been an active participant in the Forum in Krynica. The gathering of experts in our sector, sharing experience and reflections is particularly crucial for us in the year of crisis.” – said Jacek Krawiec, CEO of PKN ORLEN. ”Our sector, being strongly related to macroeconomic conditions, is particularly susceptible to signals and oscillations of the world economy. We are by now aware of challenges the fuels sector will face in the upcoming years and opportunities to seize. The Forum will undoubtedly be the chance to compare and verify the views of the participants of this market ”.

The CEO of PKN ORLEN will also participate in the plenary session opening the stream of panels on energy topics entitled " Partnership of the European Countries in Building Regional Energy Security" and in the discussion panel under the title of „European Solidarity versus Energy Security”.

The meetings in Krynica will be preceded by the Second Investment Forum in Tarnów, organized on 8-9 September. Its participants will attempt to sum up the effects of the economic transformation in Central and Eastern Europe and to present the principles of the privatization policy for the time of crisis. The meeting will gather investors from Central and Eastern Europe, Poland included, and also government and parliament representatives responsible for the course of privatization processes in Central Europe.

During the Forum in Tarnów, PKN ORLEN will be represented by its CEO, Mr. Jacek Krawiec, who will participate in the discussion panel entitled „Energy Security versus Economic Efficiency”.
