ORLEN – 50 per cent of crude oil imported to Poland comes from countries other than Russia

Nearly half of the crude oil imported to Poland by PKN ORLEN already comes from outside Russia. This is an effect of the company’s efforts to diversify oil supplies and steadily develop business cooperation with suppliers from outside Europe, including Saudi Aramco Oil Company.

ORLEN strengthens ties with Saudi Aramco

​PKN ORLEN can import up to 800,000 tonnes of Saudi crude oil over six months under a contract signed with Saudi Aramco Products Trading Company, a subsidiary of the Saudi oil producer. The contract is an important step that guarantees stability of supply to ORLEN’s refineries in Europe. Under a separate commercial contract, the supplier from Saudi Arabia has committed to purchase heavy fuel oil from ORLEN Lietuva. With that latter contract in place, PKN ORLEN, acting through its Lithuanian-based subsidiary, is strenghtening its strategic relationship with Saudi Aramco also in the area of heavy fuel oil trade.

Engaged in continued diversification efforts, PKN ORLEN is reducing crude oil supplies from across Poland’s eastern border

In line with its policy to purchase the feedstock from a diverse supplier base, PKN ORLEN has reduced the volumes sourced from Rosneft Oil Company by approximately 30%, thereby markedly increasing its diversification capacity.

ORLEN refineries to process American oil

​PKN ORLEN increases diversification of crude oil supplies across the entire Group. WTI crude from the US will be supplied to ORLEN refineries in the Czech Republic and Lithuania. The Company does not rule out that this source may become a permanent fixture in the ORLEN Group’s supply portfolio.

PKN ORLEN to buy oil from Angola

​PKN ORLEN consistently diversifies its oil supply sources. Angola is the second, after Nigeria, Western African country from which PKN ORLEN will import oil. Approximately one million barrels will be delivered to Naftoport in Gdańsk as early as in February 2019.

New crude supplies for ORLEN

​PKN ORLEN’s refinery in Płock will soon receive approximately 130,000 tonnes of crude oil from Nigeria. The shipment originating from West Africa marks another step in the Company’s efforts towards greater diversification of supplies. The New Vision tanker is due to arrive at Gdańsk in mid-October.
