PKN ORLEN in talks with the Government of Lithuania on Mazeikiu Nafta
PKN ORLEN and the Lithuanian government are proceeding with the schedule for the closing of the transaction. The report of the Lithuanian governmental commission should be ready by 1st December 2006.
In a telephone conversation today, PKN ORLEN CEO, Igor Chalupec, and Saulius Specius, an advisor to the Prime Minister of Lithuania, discussed the further steps necessary towards closing the refinery purchase deal. The parties agreed that PKN ORLEN, the Government of Lithuania, and Yukos International UK BV, acting upon mutually binding agreements and as promptly as possible, work out a schedule for the fast closing of the transaction, taking into consideration the findings of the commissions that are investigating the causes and damage of the fire in the refinery, as well as the outcomes from the work of the advisors to PKN ORLEN.
The report of the commission called by the Government of Lithuania, and expected by 1st December 2006, will be a significant part of this work.
