Letter of Intent by PKN ORLEN and Ford

On 4th August PKN ORLEN and Ford Polska signed a Letter of Intent on co-operation in introducing and promoting new bio-ethanol based fuels in the Polish market. The document was signed by Wojciech Kotlarek – Member of the Management Board of PKN ORLEN, Robert Gmyrek – Head of Alternative Energy Sources at PKN ORLEN and Adam Kolodziejczyk – President of Ford Polska.

“I am certain that in combining our efforts with Ford we will do more for the development of bio-ethanol based fuels in the Polish market. The launch of a new product will undoubtedly bring benefits to the environment, as well as stimulate growth in the domestic agricultural sector. We hope our joint undertakings will enjoy the approval of the government and local authorities” – said Wojciech Kotlarek, Member of the Management Board of PKN ORLEN.

“Ford is among the leaders offering various solutions aimed at diminishing the car industry’s impact on environment. One of them is the use of bio-ethanol for fueling vehicles. Bearing in mind specific Polish and European circumstances we believe that the introduction of bio-fuels will on the one hand stimulate Polish agriculture, and on the other hand contribute to the certification of bio-fuel production” – said Adam Kolodziejczyk, President of Ford Polska.

Within the co-operation agreement, PKN ORLEN and Ford will promote bio-ethanol based fuel (E85) across the Polish market. The companies plan to proceed with the R & D project with the use of the bio-fuel, which in the end may be used to power the Flexifuel engines (FFV) offered by Ford in the Polish market.
