ORLEN expands German market position
21-10-2015  Reg. ORLEN Group

ORLEN Deutschland, a German subsidiary of PKN ORLEN, has signed a contract with Germania Petrol, an independent service station network operator, which will see it acquire 13 SUN stations in Berlin.

Following the acquisition, the number of STAR service stations operating in the German capital will increase from 18 to nearly 30.The new stations will be rebranded once all legal formalities associated with the transaction are completed.

“The transaction is in line with our earlier plans with respect to potential acquisitions and development of the ORLEN Group’s retail business on the highly demanding German market, extensively penetrated by the fuel industry. The new stations in Berlin operate in the economy segment and offer considerable sales potential,” said Marek Podstawa, Member of the PKN ORLEN Management Board, Sales.

PKN ORLEN operates on the German market through its subsidiary – ORLEN Deutschland. The Polish company has been present in Germany since 2003, when it acquired 494 service stations from BP. Following the transaction with Germania Petrol, ORLEN Deutschland will operate a retail network comprising more than 570 service stations, mostly under the STAR brand, which is currently Germany’s largest service station network in the economy segment.
