Benzina Plus - new premium retail brand

In line with its new business strategy Benzina, the Czech Republic’s largest fuel retail network, introduces a premium brand Benzina Plus. The company plans to upgrade and re-brand over 102 out of its more than 300 filling stations across the country. The project is aimed at attracting the most demanding motorists with a broad range of premium services and to increase Benzina´s market share. The first Benzina Plus was officially opened today on the D1 motorway near Prague.

Reg. Mazeikiu Nafta

Today at approximately 2:30 p.m. Lithuanian time a fire broke out in the Mażeikiu Nafta refinery, damaging a vacuum pipe tower distillation column. The are no casualties. The impact of the fire is yet undetermined. Although PKN ORLEN is not yet the formal owner of Mażeikiu Nafta, we will offer our assistance in coping the effects of the fire to the refinery, the local authorities and the community.

Consent motion regarding Mazeikiu Nafta

Today, 29th September 2006, PKN ORLEN has submitted to the European Commission Directorate General for Competition a consent motion regarding permission for the concentration of PKN ORLEN and Mazeikiu Nafta assets. The receipt of consent from the Commission is the last condition suspending the transaction as defined in the agreements of the Mazeikiu Nafta share purchase from Yukos International UK B.V. and the Government of Lithuania.

Letter of intent PGNiG & PKN ORLEN

The leading Polish extraction company ,PGNiG and the biggest domestic fuel producer and distributor ,PKN Orlen, intend to perform together on investments and projects in the field of oil and gas extraction and logistic infrastructure related to these sectors. On 14 July 2006 representatives of Management Boards of both PGNiG and PKN ORLEN signed a letter of intent of co-operation.

PKN ORLEN submits bid for AB Mazeikiu Nafta

Today PKN ORLEN submitted a bid for the purchase of the 53.7% of Mazeikiu Nafta offered by Yukos International UK B.V. The bid also contains a declaration of a potential purchase, under the same terms, of the shares owned by the Lithuanian government.

ORLEN completed its biggest petrochemical investment

Today PKN ORLEN officially completed the Olefin II revamping, an investment which has allowed the company to double its ethylene and propylene streams – key feedstocks for the production of plastics. The modernized plants are capable of producing up to 700,000 tonnes of ethylene and up to 385,000 tonnes of propylene per annum. The bulk of the output will be streamed to the new plants of Basell Orlen Polyolefins and Anwil Wloclawek.

Participants in the Central & Eastern European Refining and Petrochemicals 8th Annual Roundtable, organised by the British World Refining Association, have decided that the best refinery in 2005 is the Petrochemical Complex in Plock. The decision was based on considerations including corporate strategy, infrastructure, technology innovation and plans for the future.

Poland's first distribution of bio-diesel

Trzebinia Refinery, the ORLEN Group Company, has begun Poland’s first distribution of bio-diesel, which is a mixture of mineral diesel and diesel produced from plant oils. The ON BIO, as it is called, can be applied to all types of self-ignition diesel engines, is environmentally friendly and cheaper than typical diesel. The new fuel is characterized for its high greasing parameters and low sulphur content and level of exhaust.
