ORLEN to invest in production of new generation biofuel

PKN ORLEN and ORLEN Południe have signed an agreement providing for the construction of an advanced industrial unit that would produce second-generation bioethanol and describing the methods in which the project would be financed. Located at the Jedlicze refinery, the project would be the first of its kind in Poland and the second one in Europe. The unit would be capable of producing 25 thousand tonnes of bioethanol per year. The project is aligned with the ORLEN Group’s strategic objective to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. It would also strengthen Poland’s position on the European market for new generation biofuels.

PKN ORLEN’s investment in deep crude conversion in Mažeikiai will enhance the refinery’s profitability

PKN ORLEN is investing to expand its refinery in Mažeikiai. By the end of this year construction will start on a project to build deep crude conversion units enabling production of larger volumes of high-margin products. According to the agreement signed between PKN ORLEN and ORLEN Lietuva on the financing of the project, the Company is to invest EUR 641m. This will be the largest capex project carried out by the ORLEN Group in Lithuania in its operating history. The project will enhance the profitability of the refinery, contributing to strengthening energy security of the region. The project is slated for completion by the end of 2024, and it will add as much as ca. EUR 68m to annual EBITDA.

PKN ORLEN takes next step in its Petrochemical Development Programme

​PKN ORLEN has signed a final contract with the contractor for Europe’s largest petrochemical project in 20 years. Hyundai Engineering and Técnicas Reunidas will be responsible for building the main units of Olefins Complex III. This key project implemented under PKN ORLEN’s Petrochemical Development Programme will add some PLN 1bn to the company’s annual EBITDA.

Worth approximately PLN 1bn, it will significantly increase the yield of light products: gasoline and diesel oil. 40th anniversary of the Mažeikiai refinery

​The key asset of the ORLEN Group’s ORLEN Lietuva, the Mažeikiai refinery celebrates its 40th anniversary. The refinery is now one of the pillars of the ORLEN Group, generating profits and significantly enhancing energy security in the region. It also forms part of the Group’s integrated production chain. In the last four years, ORLEN Lietuva has earned a net profit of approximately PLN 2.3bn.

PKN ORLEN has entered the decisive stage of negotiations with the EC over its proposed acquisition of the LOTOS Group

​The European Commission has enabled PKN ORLEN to review the results of the analysis carried out in second stage of the proceedings of the potential acquisition of the LOTOS Group. In line with the practice for this phase of procedure, the ‘Statement of Objections’ has been applied. A written Statement of Objections issued by European Comission will help PKN ORLEN align its proposed remedial measures with the Commission’s guidelines and formally submit them in the near future.
