PKN ORLEN Increases Equity Interests in Key Companies of the ORLEN Group

PKN ORLEN has signed agreements with the Ministry of the State Treasury for purchase of blocks of shares in two key companies of the ORLEN Group.

PKN ORLEN’S second sale of mandatory stocks in 2010, for over PLN 900M

As previously announced, PKN ORLEN carried out another sale of mandatory crude oil stocks in 2010, thus transferring the statutory obligation to maintain the stocks onto a third party and releasing approximately PLN 910m in the process.

ORLEN Plans to Pursue Oil and Gas Exploration Opportunities in Ukraine

PKN ORLEN and the Ukrainian Ministry of the Environment have signed an agreement on cooperation in exploration and production of hydrocarbons in the territory of Ukraine. In accordance with the agreement, PKN ORLEN will be able either to work under new licences or to jointly develop some hydrocarbon reserves already appraised by its Ukrainian partners.

ORLEN Lietuva’s CEO Meets with Lithuanian Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius

Today, Lithuanian Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius met in Vilnius with Ireneusz Fąfara, CEO of ORLEN Lietuva. The purpose of the meeting was to provide an update on the Mazeikiu refinery’s situation and on PKN ORLEN’S plans regarding the future of that investment.

The Management Board of PKN ORLEN has appointed a consultant to help work out a recommendation concerning the future of the company’s investment in Lithuania. So far PKN ORLEN was analyzing the situation of the Mazeikiai refinery internally. It will be the consultant’s task to verify the plausibility of various scenarios – from maintaining the current ownership status and adding to the Lithuanian company’s value, to scenarios in which some or all shares in the Lithuanian refinery are sold.

A meeting was held today between the Chancellor and the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Lithuania, representatives of the Polish Ministry of Treasury and the PKN ORLEN’s Management Board. The goal of the meeting was to discuss the possibility of taking decisions by the Lithuanian authorities that would allow to improve ORLEN Lietuva’s operations in the area of logistics. It was another attempt of the Polish side made within the last three years with respect to this matter. The proposal presented by the Polish representatives, which aimed at improving the profitability of ORLEN Lietuva, has not gained the support of the Government of Lithuania.
