ORLEN inaugurates investment programme

PKN ORLEN has begun to execute its Ecology and Power Investment Programme in the Płock Production Facility. Altogether, 6 investments - worth PLN 1.4 billion – will be carried out within the next seven years.

ORLEN exceeds Fitch Ratings expectations

Today Fitch has communicated its decision – favorable from the perspective of PKN ORLEN credit risk assessment – on removing the company from Rating Watch Negative, i.e. the list of entities under surveillance related to the possible short-term rating reduction.

ORLEN achieved National Indicative Target for 2009

In 2009 PKN ORLEN introduced overall 510 thousand tons of bio-components and biofuels to the Polish market meeting therefore the National Indicative Target with a surplus. Consequently the reduction in carbon dioxide emission from fuels occurred by approximately 540 thousand tons.

Another off-shore exploration concession in Latvia

Balin Energy, a 50-50 joint venture between PKN ORLEN and Kuwait Energy, has received in Riga (Latvia) the crude oil exploration and production concession in the Latvian off-shore economy zone of the Baltic Sea. Together with the concession which was won in 2008, Balin Energy operates in the area of approximately 900 km2.

Another Latvian exploration license for PKN ORLEN

The company SIA Balin Energy, a joint venture of PKN ORLEN and Kuwait Energy Company has obtained the second exploration and production license for its activity in the Latvian Baltic Sea economic area. The decision has been announced today by the Latvian government in the Official Journal of the European Union.

PKN ORLEN SA and PGNiG SA will jointly perform an Exploitation Project in Poland.

PKN ORLEN SA and PGNiG SA will jointly perform an Exploitation Project in Wielkopolska Province, Poland. On June 22nd 2009 PKN ORLEN S.A. (ORLEN) and Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo S.A. (PGNiG) signed a Joint Operation Agreement to work on an Exploration-Production Project located in the North-Western part of Poland.

Poland’s most modern Thermal Waste Treatment Plant

ORLEN Eko, the ORLEN Group Company, has today launched the most modern thermal waste treatment plant in Poland. The facility is the first plant in the country capable of processing of external dried municipal sewage sludge.

Start-up of the Olefin Plant II

Today, at 3.30 am, PKN ORLEN began the start-up of the Olefin Plant II which is scheduled to proceed until 10 pm on 4th August 2008. The operation is resulting in a bigger and more intense flame and noise from the flare.

PKN ORLEN selected new suppliers of esters

PKN ORLEN is continuing to meet the 2008 national bio-fuel target. The Company has signed a contract for supplies of esters for diesel production and for distribution as a self-contained fuel.
