ORLEN Group invests in green transport solutions

The ORLEN Group is building Poland’s first green biogas plant to make a real contribution to reducing CO2 emissions from heavy goods transport. The pilot plant being built in Głąbowo (Province of Olsztyn), will produce over 7 million cubic metres of biomethane annually, which will then be converted into fuel, bioLNG. This volume allows a truck to travel 22 million kilometres. Estimated to cost PLN 180m, the project is slated to become operational in the second half of 2024.

ORLEN to get parcels to customers faster with new sorting facility

PKN ORLEN has launched a modern parcel sorting facility in the Stryków area near Łódź. The facility is the Company’s largest warehouse expansion project delivered to date for ORLEN Paczka. With the sorting facility now in operation, ORLEN Paczka has increased its throughput to 45m parcels per year.

PKN ORLEN deploying EV charging network in Europe

PKN ORLEN is expanding its service station network with a view to increasing the availability of alternative fuels in Europe. By 2026, it will have launched 434 electric vehicle charging stations in Germany. The ORLEN Group already operates 470 such facilities across Poland, and provides EV charging infrastructure at 63 locations in Germany and the Czech Republic.

PKN ORLEN with highest ever long-term rating from Fitch

PKN ORLEN is consistently strengthening its financial position and credibility for investors. Its credit standing has now been confirmed by Fitch Ratings, which upgraded PKN ORLEN’s Long-Term Issuer Default Rating (IDR) by two notches, to ‘BBB+’, outlook stable. The upgrade follows successful closing of the merger between PKN ORLEN and PGNiG, the Polish state-owned gas utility company, as well as its earlier track record of M&A transactions. PKN ORLEN’s attractive credit profile for the financial market is also demonstrated by its highest ever rating of ‘A3’ assigned by Moody's Investors Service in October this year.

Modern, strong ORLEN means stable fuel, gas and electricity prices

The ORLEN Group has finalised its merger with PGNiG, thus establishing Central Europe’s largest energy group ranking among top 150 companies in the world by revenue and serving more than 100 million customers. By combining its operations with PGNiG, the ORLEN Group has created the potential to make multibillion-dollar investments that strengthen the energy security and independence of all of Central Europe, and is therefore able to effectively deliver the energy transition in the markets where it is present.

ORLEN Group with new renewable capacity

The ORLEN Group has completed a project to construct one of Poland’s largest solar PV farms, located near Wielbark (Province of Olsztyn). The 62 MW solar farm will operate at full capacity starting from the first quarter of 2023, generating clean energy for more than 30 thousand households.

PKN ORLEN with highest ever rating from Moody’s

Moody’s Investors Service has once again this year upgraded PKN ORLEN’s rating by raising it to A3, the best ever in the company’s history. The upgrade was driven by the successful implementation of M&A processes, which included obtaining shareholder approvals for the merger of PKN ORLEN with PGNiG, as well as the ORLEN Group’s sound financial footing. The rating outlook was changed to stable.

Ten new service stations opened by ORLEN in Slovakia

The ORLEN Group has opened ten new service stations in Slovakia and – with a chain now comprising 36 locations – has joined the five largest fuel retailers operating in that market. The new self-service stations are located in Bratislava, Košice, as well as other cities. Once its chain expansion plans get completed, the Group will have more than 90 stations, ranking among Slovakia’s top three fuel retailers.

ORLEN to build three more hydrogen fuel stations

Three public stations for refuelling hydrogen vehicles are soon to be built by PKN ORLEN in Wałbrzych, Poznań and Katowice. The project agreement has just been signed with the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management. The investment marks another concrete step in the delivery of the Company’s full value chain hydrogen strategy. Its flagship ‘Hydrogen Eagle’ project was recently approved by the European Commission under the IPCEI (Important Project of Common European Interest) Hy2Use programme and was the only Polish initiative among the select group of 35 projects proposed by applicants from 13 European countries.
