PKN ORLEN and SYNTHOS canceled contract for delivery of ethylobenzene

PKN ORLEN announces that with regard to the agreement signed with Synthos SA, both sides have decided to cancel the realization of the contract, signed at the begining of the year 2007, which was conected with the building of the instalation for production of ethylobenzene and delivering it to SYNTHOS SA.

New CEO of Unipetrol

During today’s meeting of the supervisory board of UNIPETROL, a.s. (“SB”) Mr. Francois Vleugels resigned from the position of Chairman of the Board and CEO of Unipetrol, with immediate effect. SB has elected Mr. Krzysztof Urbanowicz, as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Unipetrol,a.s. with immediate effect.

Mazeikiu Nafta resumed Crude Distillation Unit

Following earlier declarations of PKN ORLEN, on 20th January 2008 the refinery in Mazeikiu (ORLEN Group) resumed operation of the Vacuum Distillation Unit (VDU). The unit’s reconstruction was completed at the end of December 2007, fourteen months after the fire which destroyed the facility (October 2006).

New Formula for VERVA

Today PKN ORLEN changes the branding for its VERVA fuels with the slogan “New Power Formula” as the Company starts promoting a modified formula of the premium fuels across ORLEN retail network in Poland.

The ORLEN Group settled tender for supplies of bio-components in 2009

Supplies from Polish companies will account for 67 per cent of esters and 100 per cent of bio-ethanol for PKN ORLEN throughout 2009. Both tenders were conducted together with Mazeikiu Nafta and Unipetrol.

Letter of Intent between PKN ORLEN and PERN

PKN ORLEN and PERN (Crude Oil Pipeline Operator in Poland) have signed the Letter of Intent for construction of the product pipeline between Boronów and Trzebinia. The 100 kilometer long pipeline will be an important part of fuel logistics aimed at significant cost optimization. The Agreement between the Parties is to be signed in mid 2009.

Trzebinia Refinery fair in tax payments

The Fiscal office in Krakow (Poland) has submitted the result of the fiscal control in regards to the refinery’s eliminated tax payments between 2003 - April 2004 to the Trzebinia Refinery (The ORLEN Group company). The control conducted from 2005 has proved that the eliminated payments were correct. The Krakow Fiscal office’s decision removes the risk of bankruptcy for the Refinery resulting from the alleged tax debt.
