The Annual Report 2006 published by PKN ORLEN has won the first prize in the “Best Annual Report Awards” organized by the Accountancy and Taxes Institute. PKN ORLEN’s report received the highest marks in the “Industry Enterprise” category.

Mazeikiu Nafta has received the first tranche of insurance

Companies insuring AB Mazeikiu Nafta have paid to the Lithuanian refiner USD 70 m (EUR 50 m or LTL 173.7 m). This is the first tranche of the insurance claim following the fire that occurred at the Mazeikiu production facilities on 12th October 2006.

New Board Member at ORLEN Deutschland

Josef Busch will replace Krzysztof Zak as CEO of ORLEN Deutschland in mid-September. ORLEN Deutschland is PKN ORLEN’s 100 per cent owned retail arm in Germany. Krzysztof Zak has been offered a position with Mazeikiu Nafta, PKN ORLEN’s subsidiary in Lithuania.

PKN ORLEN at the XVII Economic Forum in Krynica

On 5 – 8 September, Krynica Gorska, Poland, will host the XVII Economic Forum, which is often referred to as the Polish Davos. PKN ORLEN, as an organization deeply interested in the economic issues of today’s Europe, is a partner of the Forum. Representatives of the Company will participate in discussion panels on the fuel sector and energy security.

Mazeikiu Nafta prepares for general repair

Aiming to ensure the continuous and secure performance of the AB Mazeikiu Nafta refinery, the Lithuanian company will soon commence the general renovation of its production facilities. The investment is scheduled to begin on 22nd September 2007 and finish within approximately six weeks. The total repair and modernization cost is estimated at USD 80m.

Polimex to construct a new plant for PKN ORLEN

PKN ORLEN has entered into a contract with Polimex-Mostostal for general civil engineering and construction work of the PTA plant (terephthalic acid plant).
