ORLEN SA position on projected Single Market Strategy for 2025
The European Commission initiated work on a Single Market Strategy for 2025. The Single Market Strategy will present an action plan listing initiatives that the Commission intends to put forward over the coming years to fully exploit the potentials of the single market to boost Europe’s productivity. The strategy will focus on removing existing regulatory and administrative barriers and preventing new ones from materialising.
In the consultation process, ORLEN presented its position on the draft strategy. The company highlighted the challenges the European industry is facing - mainly in terms of the competitiveness of EU companies in a global market, where the European industry competes with entities which are not burdened by environmental regulations. In particular, energy costs are crucial to maintaining the competitiveness of European industry. In its position paper, ORLEN stressed the need to ensure climate neutrality in achieving the climate targets, it also highlighted the need to reduce the administrative burden affecting the competitiveness of EU companies.
