ORLEN's position in relation to European Commission's consultation on the Clean Industrial Deal State Aid Framework
As part of the aforementioned consultations, the company presented its key postulates indicating the need for granting state aid in the Union based on the principle of technological neutrality, i.e. support for all technologies allowing the implementation of the Clean Industrial Deal strategy objectives.
In this context, public support is needed for mechanisms that are particularly important for the simultaneous maintenance of industrial production and decarbonization efforts, i.e. tools such as the capacity market or technologies like CCUS and hydrogen production, with the need to support their entire value chain. As part of the consultation, the company also stressed the need to maintain the transitional role of natural gas in the EU as a commodity relevant to industry, forward-looking in terms of the development of other technologies (including CCUS and low-carbon hydrogen), as well as an important contributor to decarbonization in the EU.
