PKN ORLEN has announced that today marked the last of their refining of leaded petrol

Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN S.A. ("PKN ORLEN"), Central Europe's largest downstream oil company, has announced that today marked the last of their refining of leaded petrol. Remaining stocks of this fuel, marketed under the name of Etylina 94, will be exhausted by the end of the year.

This development is due to a USD 2bn investment in the refinery and the commissioning of the Isomerisation and Reformer VI units, as reported by the company in November 2000.

These newly started units will allow optimal production of environmentally friendly high octane fuels, SuperPlus 98 and Eurosuper 95, with low levels of benzene, sulphur, aromatic hydrocarbons and olefins. For cars with leaded fuel engines, PKN ORLEN offers an universal petrol, U 95, based on Eurosuper 95 enriched with potassium additive.
