PKN ORLEN Launches New Diesel Product
Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN S.A. (PKN ORLEN), Central Europe’s largest downstream oil company, announces today that production of a new diesel oil called Ekodiesel Plus 50 was successfully launched in December 2000. This brand new, state-of-the-art, diesel surpasses current European standards and requirements.
Ekodiesel Plus 50 bears the following technical characteristics:
Sulphur content - 50 ppm;
Higher cetane number - over 51;
Lower density - max. 845 kg / m3 in temperature of 15 C;
Lowered boiling temp. - 95% up to temperature of 360 C;
Lower content of aromatic hydrocarbon chains - below 7 per cent.
Ekodiesel Plus 50 contains: additives that reduce the level of smoke emissions from exhausts and improve the cleanliness of fuel injectors; additives that improve greasiness and corrosion resistance, i.e. increase resistance against oxidisation; biocides that protect the fuel against microbiologic contamination; and demulsifying additives that improve low-temperature parameters of the fuel.
Ekodiesel Plus 50 can be adjusted to operate in temperatures below -25 C. The manufacture of this state-of-the-art diesel oil has been made possible by the PKN ORLEN’s investment programme and, in particular, by the launch of the Fuel Production Complex including HON VI plant (hydrodesulphurisation of diesel oils).
In 2001 Ekodiesel Plus 50 will account for around 50 per cent of all diesel oil manufactured in PKN ORLEN S.A. Excise tax for Ekodiesel Plus 50 is around PLN 60 per tonne lower than for previous standard diesel.
