Activities relating to the purchase of the Gdansk Refinery shares

The Management Board of Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN S.A. (PKN ORLEN) announces that on 18 September 2002 the Supervisory Board of PKN ORLEN authorised the Management Board of PKN ORLEN to undertake activities relating to the purchase of the Gdansk Refinery shares.

Zbigniew Wrobel, President and CEO said: "The resolution of Supervisory Board has been passed with one abstention. This is an overwhelming endorsement of our strategy and a clear mandate for the management to intensify our efforts to buy the Gdansk Refinery "
