Partnership for improved safety and security – agreement with the National Police Headquarters and PLN 15 million for equipment from the ORLEN Foundation

ORLEN and the National Police Headquarters are joining forces to protect critical infrastructure more effectively and counter emerging threats. To this end, the parties have signed a collaboration agreement covering coordination, education, and training. The partnership will, among other things, help develop capabilities for effective responses to physical and cyber threats and strengthen operational readiness to safeguard ORLEN Group assets. Complementing these efforts is a PLN 15 million donation from the ORLEN Foundation to purchase vehicles for the Police. The funds will help the services responsible for public safety perform this mission even more effectively.

“ORLEN is a company of strategic importance for the security not only of Poland, but of the entire region. We ensure stable energy supplies, supporting the development of Central European countries. This depends not only on technology, but also on the safety and security of energy generation assets – something that is particularly important today. We are investing heavily in the energy of tomorrow while also investing in safeguarding our assets. The agreement with the National Police Headquarters and the ORLEN Foundation’s donation are further contributions to these efforts, aimed at ensuring the country’s energy security,” said Ireneusz Fąfara, President of the Management Board of ORLEN.

“National security is a shared responsibility of public institutions and strategic partners such as the ORLEN Group. The agreement we have signed is not only about sharing knowledge and experience; above all, it is about practical measures that tangibly strengthen the Police’s ability to respond to contemporary threats. Joint training and investment in modern equipment will enable us to protect citizens, critical infrastructure and the country’s energy security even more effectively,” said Police General Inspector Marek Boroń, Commander-in-Chief of Police.

The aim of the collaboration is to build a partnership for the exchange of expertise between ORLEN employees and Police counter-terrorism units. Under the agreement, the Company will make selected ORLEN Group installations and facilities available for the uniformed services to conduct training. Exercises will be held in conditions closely resembling real-world threats and operational scenarios, enabling procedures for crisis response to be refined.

In turn, ORLEN employees – particularly those responsible for infrastructure and process security – will take part in specialist workshops on prevention, threat recognition, and counter-terrorism. This exchange of skills and experience will enable both parties not only to prepare more effectively for potential incidents, but also to develop, together, a systemic approach to protecting critical areas of operations.

The agreement is another example of ORLEN’s collaboration with the uniformed services. For many years the Group has supported local communities, especially in the areas where its operations are located. An important part of these relationships is ORLEN’s work to enhance public safety, including support for Police units through the purchase of vehicles.

“The ORLEN Foundation has always been close to people – we support the uniformed services not only in crisis situations such as floods or other events requiring an immediate response, but also through systemic initiatives that enhance public safety. Providing PLN 15 million for the purchase of Police vehicles continues our long-standing partnership, whose aim is to give officers real, day-to-day support and to help build a safer environment for all citizens,” said Katarzyna Harpak, President of the ORLEN Foundation Board.

The ORLEN Foundation, which runs an extensive programme of donations supporting (among other areas) education, healthcare, cultural initiatives , and public safety, responded to a request from the National Police Headquarters by awarding a PLN 15 million grant to purchase specialist passenger/off-road vehicles. A symbolic cheque was presented to the Commander-in-Chief of Police, and the funds will be disbursed in four tranches through 2028. This will enable the Police to acquire modern service vehicles, improving officers’ mobility, speeding up incident response, and strengthening operational effectiveness – especially where safety and security require immediate support.
