ORLEN expands its EV charging network in Europe with first ORLEN Charge hub in Germany

ORLEN has opened its first multi-bay fast-charging hub for electric vehicles in Germany, operating under ORLEN Charge brand. The site is located on the A23 motorway in Elmshorn, near Hamburg, where ORLEN Deutschland is headquartered. It features 16 state-of-the-art 400 kW chargers for significantly shorter charging times.

“The development of electromobility is one of the areas in which ORLEN is consistently building a modern, integrated customer offering. The launch of our first ORLEN Charge hub in Germany is testament to our efforts to deploy charging infrastructure beyond the Polish market and also meet the demand from drivers in our other geographies. We are committed to making EV driving simpler, more convenient and more accessible, and to positioning ORLEN as a natural partner for customers in this transition,” said Marek Balawejder, Vice President of the ORLEN Management Board, Consumer & Products.

The Elmshorn hub is equipped with 16 fast chargers, each – as at ORLEN Charge hubs in Poland – rated at 400 kW. All bays are covered, with rooftop PV panels supporting the site’s supply of energy from renewable sources.

To make the wait more comfortable, the site also has toilets, seating areas, vacuum cleaners and tyre inflators, and a self-service shop offering a wide range of snacks, hot and cold drinks and car accessories. Grab & Go technology allows payment to be processed automatically, without staff assistance or the need to scan products manually.

ORLEN is continuing to develop its offering in Germany. The Group operates more than 600 conventional service stations in the country under the ORLEN and star brands, as well as 220 EV charging points. Under existing agreements, a further 360 ORLEN Charge fast-charging points are to be deployed at high-traffic retail sites across Germany by the end of 2026.

The ORLEN Charge network is also growing rapidly in Poland. More than ten modern eight-bay hubs are now in service, with charging capacity of up to 400 kW at each connector, including at the Olsztynek Południe motorway service area and in Szczecin and Gorzów Wielkopolski. In line with the ORLEN Group Strategy until 2035, ORLEN Charge is intended to become one of the leaders in Poland’s public EV charging market.
