ORLEN invites customers to participate in LNG and BioLNG market demand survey

ORLEN has launched a market demand survey for small-scale LNG and bioLNG, inviting business partners to share information that will support the planning of future infrastructure and commercial offerings. The Company aims to gather insights into projected volumes, preferred delivery locations and fuel-use models to ensure that future solutions are closely aligned with the needs of the B2B market.

The survey forms part of ORLEN’s efforts to support the development of the small-scale LNG and bioLNG market across both transport and industrial applications. The information collected will help the Company plan future infrastructure investments and tailor its offering to business customers. The survey will remain open until the end of June.

‘We want to develop LNG and bioLNG infrastructure based on customers’ actual needs. The better the infrastructure reflects market requirements, the greater the flexibility in managing supply costs and logistics. That is why we are encouraging the broadest possible participation in the survey, which will help us identify future development priorities and design solutions that meet the needs of our business partners,’ said Grzegorz Bujnowski, Executive Director for Gas Trading at ORLEN.

By participating in the survey, customers will have an opportunity to help shape the future development of LNG reloading and logistics infrastructure for the 2029–2033 period, including the location, capacity and operating model of planned facilities. ORLEN intends to conduct the survey on a regular basis in the coming years to maintain an ongoing dialogue with the market.

The survey marks another step in ORLEN’s preparations for further expansion of the small-scale LNG and bioLNG segment in Poland and Lithuania. The LNG terminal in Świnoujście will remain the region’s primary source of supply, with work underway to increase reloading capacity from 40 to 60 tanker trucks per day. Infrastructure planned in Gdańsk, currently being assessed under options including direct ship-to-truck LNG transfer or the use of onshore storage tanks, is intended to complement existing facilities and strengthen security of supply. The planned facility will have a capacity of up to 48 tanker trucks per day. Under the Company’s current plans, LNG loading operations under the new model are expected to begin in 2030. The LNG reloading terminal in Klaipėda, Lithuania, plays an important role in supplying the Baltic markets and has the potential for further expansion should strong demand growth in the region continue.

The rapid growth of the small-scale LNG market underscores the importance of assessing future demand. In Poland, annual loading volumes have increased twentyfold since small-scale LNG deliveries began in 2016, reaching 192 thousand tonnes in 2025. In Lithuania, demand has grown eightfold since the Klaipėda terminal became operational in 2020, reaching 33 thousand tonnes. This strong growth underscores the importance of continuously assessing customer and market demand to support effective infrastructure planning, logistics management and the further development of the LNG sector.
