Life-saving equipment from ORLEN for the Stara Biała Municipality
The ORLEN Foundation financed the purchase of eight AED defibrillators for all volunteer firefighting units in the Stara Biała Municipality. Each of these devices is equipped with a RKO advisor function - a voice-activated sequence of commands that guides the rescuer through the entire defibrillation process on the fly, while in use.
The Voluntary Fire Service units ensure the safety of local communities and are most often the first to arrive at the scene of an incident. Fire stations are ideal locations for AEDs, as it is important that the device be readily available around the clock. An automated external defibrillator (AED) is designed to normalize ventricular fibrillation. It is used to perform CPR, a life-saving procedure. Early defibrillation is crucial in cases of cardiac arrest. Performed within three minutes of unconsciousness, it increases the chance of survival by about 50-70%. In cases of sudden cardiac arrest, combined with cardiopulmonary resuscitation, it is the only way to save a life. The equipment was handed over to the fire-fighters during harvest festival in the Biała Municipality.
