ORLEN VC, our corporate fund, has invested in modern technology for the treatment of plastic waste (polypropylene and polyethylene) using a dissolution process, to enable its reuse, for example, in consumer packaging.
This innovative solution, developed by the Scottish start-up ReVentas, has the potential to help reduce the carbon footprint of plastics and meet the market’s growing demand for high-quality recycled raw materials.
ORLEN is participating in the international NEXTLOOPP project, which enables the production of high-quality recycled material using mechanical methods that are simpler and cheaper than chemical recycling. PolyPrism technology enables the precise separation of food-grade polypropylene (PP), achieving a purity of up to 95% after the first sorting stage and 99% after the second. The PPristine disinfection technology also plays a key role. In 2025, the ORLEN Group successfully tested the production of approximately 14,000 packaging items for the food and cosmetics industries, containing 35%, 65% and 100% recycled material.
