Poland's first distribution of bio-diesel
Trzebinia Refinery, the ORLEN Group Company, has begun Poland’s first distribution of bio-diesel, which is a mixture of mineral diesel and diesel produced from plant oils. The ON BIO, as it is called, can be applied to all types of self-ignition diesel engines, is environmentally friendly and cheaper than typical diesel. The new fuel is characterized for its high greasing parameters and low sulphur content and level of exhaust.
The ON BIO contains more oxygen parts which improves combustion of the fuel. About 60 per cent of the mixture is made from rapeseed oil, while the remaining portion consists of plant oils and rapeseed fatty acids.
Last year, Trzebinia Refinery started Poland and Europe’s most modern cutting-edge biodiesel plant, whose manufacturing capacity equals 100,000 tonnes of methyl esters per annum (with the possibility of an increase up to 150,000 tpa) and 11,500 tonnes of pharmaceutical glycerine per annum.
