VERVA - feel the power of new fuels from ORLEN
PKN ORLEN today introduces state-of-the-art, cutting edge fuels offered under the commercial name of VERVA. The new offering, which includes VERVA 98 petrol and VERVA ON diesel, is aimed at consumers of premium-segment products. This new generation of fuels ensures better engine performance and life. VERVA meets the most stringent European requirements for non-sulphur fuels envisaged for 2009.
Despite the huge potential due to ORLEN's production and technological advantages, the largest number of petrol stations in the country, and broad brand recognition, PKN ORLEN's domestic market share has shrunk over the last few years relative to the international operators. In the course of introducing a new retail strategy PKN ORLEN has focused on the need to satisfy to the maximum extent the requirements of different clients.
PKN ORLEN wishes to be associated with products of the highest quality as well as delivering an efficient and professional service, in order to make ORLEN for most favoured brand and choice for clients. Another important step in adjusting to the needs of different clients will be to divide the network into two standardized segments: Premium and Economy. The Premium standards introduced under the ORLEN brand will serve the 53%-plus of clients who are both quality and modernity oriented.
The cutting edge VERVA fuels have been produced to improve engine performance under various climatic conditions and changeable load environments. The increased content of washing additives ensures that the inlet system is clean and even allows the removal of deposits collected when using fuels of unknown origin. The washing efficiency of VERVA fuels has been proved in accordance with the Mercedes Benz 102E engine testing method. The result for VERVA was ranked below 5mg, considerably lower than the 30mg allowed in the IV category - the highest fuel category as specified in the International Fuel Card.
New fuels are produced from strictly selected components at the state-of-the-art refinery in Plock and their quality is continuously controlled at each stage of the production process. The fuels conform to the European requirements for so-called 'non-sulphur' fuels, in which the sulphur content has been defined as being below 10mg/kg, and which are due to become mandatory in 2009.
VERVA 98 petrol is a fuel that improves engine life, by increasing the mechanical durability of those parts exposed to the most use (cylinders, pistons, rings and valves). In addition, the reduced sulphur content of 10 mg/kg also prolongs the life of exhaust catalysts, reduces corrosion in the inlet and exhaust systems, and lowers the emission of sulphur compounds.
VERVA ON diesel is particularly recommended for cars with modern diesel engines incorporating pump-injection and common-rail technology. The higher cetane number of the diesel fuel (55 against a typical 51) improves efficiency - it facilitates engine starts and lowers engine working temperature. The special lubricating additives in VERVA ON contribute to lower fuel consumption and prolong non-service use of the pumps in the injection system.
The introduction of new fuels is evidence of changes in PKN ORLEN. Following our clients' needs we are modifying our vision of the retail network, and we are clearly establishing the position and role of PKN ORLEN in the Polish fuel market. These premium fuels mark an important step in the process of the Company's improvement within the retail segment. The next stage will be the introduction of an Economy segment in the nearest future. - said Igor Chalupec, President & CEO at PKN ORLEN S.A.
Over half of our clients define quality and modernity as key features of an auto fuel. As Poland's leader in terms of the number of retail outlets we feel obliged to meet these requirements. VERVA is our answer - the leading cutting edge fuel on the market - said Wojciech Heydel, Vice-President, Retail & Commercial Sales
We have made the greatest effort possible to utilize state-of-the-art technology in favour of a product that meets all of our clients' expectations and conforms with the most rigorous environmental requirements. With all this in mind I can give an assurance that VERVA is the fuel of the future. - said Czeslaw Bugaj, Deputy Managing Director, Chief Operations Officer
VERVA production technology was continuously monitored during research conducted in the leading research and development centres.
