PKN ORLEN supports Poland's national heritage
Rafał Blechacz, the winner of the XV International Frederic Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, yesterday visited the Steinway Factory in Hamburg (Germany) where he chose his dream piano. The purchase of the instrument is being sponsored by PKN ORLEN.
At Steinway, Rafal Blechacz was shown through the entire production process, from wood drying to piano painting. From amongst the 6 models in Steinway’s range, the award-winning Polish piano player picked the most suitable. Afterwards, he gave a traditional 20 minute concert to the employees of the Steinway factory and Deutsche Grammophon – the world’s biggest classical music record company - and with which Rafal Blechacz has signed a contract for 3 records. The first record is expected to be released in 2007.
PKN ORLEN’s wide-ranging participation in both the concert and the piano foundation for Rafal Blechacz is designed to conserve Chopin’s music as an important part of Poland’s national heritage.
