New JV of PKN ORLEN
On 16th October 2006 PKN ORLEN entered into a JV agreement for the production of ethylbenzene, a key component in the production of styrene, with Firma Chemiczna Dwory SA (Dwory). The JV will be operating under the name of ETYLOBENZEN Plock.
The venture will enable PKN ORLEN to secure an offtake for its petrochemical streams, whereas Dwory will enjoy integration in the raw materials segment. PKN ORLEN’s and Dwory’s holdings in the JV will amount to 51% and 49% respectively.
The construction of a new ethylbenzene plant (120 ttpa) will take approximately 2 years. It will be located in Plock because of the easy access to benzene and ethylene from PKN ORLEN’s facilities.
