PKN ORLEN and Benzina are partners to the 42nd Karlovy Vary International Film Festival
PKN ORLEN and Benzina are partners to this year’s 42nd edition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. PKN ORLEN together with Unipetrol supported the project last year. This year, its subsidiary Benzina assumed the auspices, whose brand will be promoted during the course of the festival.
The 42nd edition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival will run from 29 June to 7 July 2007. The partnership between the festival and the largest Czech petrochemical holding, Unipetrol, has become a tradition. The company began supporting this prestigious cultural event back in 2000 and, since the cooperation proved to be very good for both parties, it continued in 2001, 2005 and 2006. Unipetrol has extensive experience with lending support to other momentous cultural institutions and projects as well. This year, for example, it became a partner to the National Theatre.
The largest oil company in Central and Eastern Europe, PKN ORLEN also supports the festival this year. In 2005 the company became Unipetrol’s majority shareholder. Hence, it is only natural that it strives to support not only Polish culture and arts but also the most important and most prestigious cultural events in the Czech Republic. Benzina, which is a member of the Unipetrol group and operates the largest filling station network in the Czech Republic, has significant linkages to the world of film. As a Czech company, it helps Czech film industry with its year-round sales promotion programme intended for its customers. Since last May Benzina has organised a promotional event at its petrol stations, as part of which drivers can obtain original DVDs with selected Czech films from the attractive portfolio of cult hits. Benzina is the first company in history to present the second series of bedtime stories featuring Maxidog Fík on DVD. As the main mascot of the new campaign, this cartoon character will introduce the partnership between Benzina and the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival under the motto “Fík’s Film Festival”.
