PKN ORLEN at the XVII Economic Forum in Krynica

On 5 – 8 September, Krynica Gorska, Poland, will host the XVII Economic Forum, which is often referred to as the Polish Davos. PKN ORLEN, as an organization deeply interested in the economic issues of today’s Europe, is a partner of the Forum. Representatives of the Company will participate in discussion panels on the fuel sector and energy security.

This year’s Forum is held around the theme: “Europe – Crisis, Changes and Opportunities”. The 16th meeting is expected to attract around 3,000 guests from approximately 60 countries in Europe, Asia and America. Top politicians, governmental and parliamentary delegations, heads of central institutions, businessmen and representatives of non-governmental organizations will share their views and experience at 130 panel discussions. The discussions have been split into 10 thematic blocks including: international policy and security; country and reforms; the EU and its neighbors; regions; society; science and culture; macroeconomic issues; business and management; fuels and energy; and the new economy.

On 5th September Piotr Kownacki, CEO & President of PKN ORLEN, will participate in a discussion panel: “Production Capacities in the Baltic Sea Area: Security of Crude Supplies – Challenges and Possibilities (starts 5.10 pm.).

On 6th September, Wojciech Heydel, the PKN ORLEN Vice President responsible for sales, will take the floor during the session “Searching for growth – why should Polish companies invest abroad” (starts 1.05 pm.) On the same day Wojciech Heydel will also speak in a panel discussion: “Infrastructure of the aviation, transportation and speed of EU integration (starts 3.55 pm.).

On 5th September, Piotr Kearney, Head of PKN ORLEN’s Strategy Department will moderate the session: “Restructuring and the Stock Exchange – will going public increase the efficiency of national companies?” (starts: 5.45 pm.).

PKN ORLEN is also a partner of the annual Forum publication “Report on Transformation” which summarizes the integration economies of the CEE countries in 2006 and the first half of 2007. The analysis covers 27 countries from the CEE as well as South-East Europe and the Former Soviet Union. The official presentation of the report’s results, with the participation of Piotr Kownacki - CEO & President of PKN ORLEN, is scheduled for the first day of the Forum (5th September).
