ORLEN - leader of the 'List of 500' ranking by “Polityka” weekly
PKN ORLEN was ranked first again on list of the largest Polish companies, published by "Polityka" weekly. Last year, the Group recorded sales revenue of PLN 47 billion.
Although last year was particularly severe and bitter for the entire fuel and petrochemical industry, the Group’s activities (initiated already at the outbreak of the global crisis) enabled it to generate PLN 6 billion of financial means extra. Moreover, the company completed the most serious of the tasks in the examined period – the net debt was reduced by 25%. What is particularly important, large-scale optimization activities undertaken by the Group have not refrained the PKN ORLEN from continuing investment projects, and retail sales volume in 2009 increased by 6%.
- Despite the slowdown, the Group's financial condition as of the today is much better than a year ago. This enables us to build our sustainable fuel market leadership, in order to make ORLEN a symbol of success not only in Poland, but also in the international arena - said Jacek Krawiec, CEO of PKN ORLEN.
