PKN ORLEN is the best managed Polish company
PKN ORLEN has won title of the best managed Polish company according to the "Best Managed Companies in CEE 2010" ranking organised by the British financial magazine Euromoney.
On 6 May, Euromoney published results of the opinion poll called “Best Managed Companies in Central & Eastern Europe”, whose aim was to choose the best managed companies in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. PKN ORLEN has been awarded the title “Best Managed – Most convincing and coherent strategy in Poland”.
- The award granted to PKN ORLEN in this category confirms our conviction that actions initiated by the Company as far back as in 2008 proved to be correct, and shows that we have been able to find, as a company, a right way in the difficult situation stemming from the economic slowdown. The award is all the more valuable to us as the position of individual companies in the competition ranking depends upon votes cast by analysts and experts on specific markets who are professionals possessing appropriate competence and knowledge necessary for a reliable assessment of the quality of corporate management - said Jacek Krawiec, Chairman of the PKN ORLEN Management Board.
The “Best Managed Companies in CEE” awards have been granted by Euromoney since 2005. 71 analysts and experts representing large banks, consulting companies and scientific institutes specialising in Central and Eastern Europe, took part in the current edition of the poll. Respondents were asked to name three enterprises standing out in each of the competition categories.
- The title of the best managed Polish company in the crisis 2009 year is of a special significance. A clear and transparent vision of the company activities, going beyond the time of recession and allowing for a consequent implementation of the strategic plans and intentions, is extremely important in order to face external problems - added Chairman of the PKN ORLEN Management Board.
The Euromoney magazine award is another distinction summing up achievements of PKN ORLEN in 2009. In recent months, the Company has also got at the top of the latest rankings of Polish companies, published inter alia by the weekly magazine Polityka and the daily newspaper Rzeczpospolita. In March this year, the newspaper Puls Biznesu awarded the Company title of the Stock Company of the Year in the category Investor Relationships, while in November 2009 PKN ORLEN entered an exclusive club of 16 companies whose quotations are taken into account when calculating the Respect Index – a stock exchange index of socially responsible companies. PKN ORLEN was also rewarded for its policy with respect to the natural environment and was granted title of the “Environment Friendly Company” by the European Forum of Ecologic Responsibility.
Assets of the ORLEN brand have been invariably highly appraised by the customers, who awarded the Gold Emblem to the Company in the category Petrol Station in this year’s European Trusted Brands poll. ORLEN also won the Consumer Laurel, an award granted on the basis of a poll concerning the trust placed by Poles in different products and services.
Euromoney is a prestigious magazine dedicated to the European financial markets and at the same time the most renowned title owned by the London publishing house Euromoney Institutional Investor PLC. Since its establishment in 1969, Euromoney has been focusing on questions relating to the international capital markets. Last year, the magazine celebrated its 40th anniversary.
