ORLEN at the top of the industry in the EMEA region
PKN ORLEN has secured the first position in the EMEA region in the Refining & Marketing category of the Platts Top 250 Global Energy Company Ranking, listing the largest refining and energy sector companies around the world. Since last year, the Company has moved up seven places.
The ranking is compiled by Platts to evaluate the 250 largest refining and energy companies from around the world. The key financial metrics taken into consideration include asset worth, revenues, profits and return on invested capital. The Top 250 Global Energy Company list is an analysis of the companies' global and regional performance. PKN ORLEN came in first in the Refining&Marketing category in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa). Last year the Company was ranked eighth. In the overall classification, PKN ORLEN emerged 31st in the region, having advanced from the 37th place in 2011, and 83rd globally.
“We are particularly glad that this distinction has come at such a challenging time for the European refining sector ,” said Jacek Krawiec, President and CEO of PKN ORLEN S.A. “With 20% of the European refining capacities having come off stream since 2009, PKN ORLEN can be proud of its robust performance and stable financial position, appreciated by the market and investors. Coming first in such a prestigious ranking demonstrates our leading position in the region and confirms that we have taken the right path. It also proves our efficiency and flexibility in such an adverse environment,” emphasized Jacek Krawiec.
