Contract signed by ANWIL for a granulation plant

ANWIL, a Włocławek-based company of the ORLEN Group, has signed a contract for the construction of a granulation plant, the second of three key contracts to be concluded under the project designed to expand ANWIL’s fertilizer capacity. Once completed, the plant will increase ANWIL’s capacity by about a half, adding four types of fertilizers to its product mix.

The turnkey contract for engineering, procurement and construction of a granulation plant was concluded with Tecnimont S.p. A., a comprehensive EPC service provider owned by Maire Tecnimont Group of Italy. This is the second of three major contracts to be signed under the project, which is strategically important to ANWIL’s further growth.

The first contract, signed in late April 2019 with thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions AG, provides for the construction of a nitric acid unit with a daily capacity of almost 1,300 tonnes and a neutralisation unit with a daily capacity of 1,200 tonnes. On May 22nd 2019, the foundation stone was laid for that part of the project.

The last contract will be for construction of auxiliary facilities.

The granulation plant will have an average daily capacity of about 1,500 tonnes (depending on the fertilizer type) and will be capable of simultaneously producing a wide range of products differing mainly in nitrogen and sulfur contents.

ANWIL has chosen a granulation technology that will add coarse-grained ammonium nitrate, ammonium sulfate nitrate, calcium ammonium nitrate with sulfur and calcium ammonium nitrate with magnesium with enhanced granule properties to the company’s product mix.

As the third fertilizer plant is launched, ANWIL’s production capacity will go up from 966,000 tonnes to 1,461,000 tonnes per year. The total budget of ANWIL’s capacity expansion project is estimated at about PLN 1.3bn, and its completion is scheduled by mid-2022. Once the project comes on-stream, ANWIL S.A.’s annual EBITDA may grow by approximately EUR 57m.
