Acetone is obtained as a by-product in the production of phenol by the cumene method at the Phenol and Acetone Distillation Plant.
Acetone is mainly used for manufacturing methyl methacrylate (MMA) and bisphenol A (BPA). In addition, acetone is used as a solvent in the paint and varnish industry.
