ORLEN certified for biofuel component production at Płock refinery

ORLEN has secured certification under the Oil and Gas Institute’s KZR INiG sustainability scheme for the co-hydrotreatment of bio-based feedstocks at its Płock refinery. The certification confirms that the renewable feedstocks used by the Company and their processing comply with the European Union’s requirements. This enables ORLEN to expand the production of biofuel components and count them towards the EU’s renewable energy targets for transport. The Company currently has the capacity to process approximately 100,000 tonnes of bio-based feedstocks annually, with planned upgrades set to increase this to around 150,000 tonnes.

ORLEN Group advances regional energy transition as solar PV farm at Mažeikiai refinery comes online

The ORLEN Group has brought a solar PV farm at its Mažeikiai refinery online. The 42.2 MW facility is expected to generate about 45 GWh of electricity a year for ORLEN Lietuva, helping to cut the refinery’s operating costs and increase the share of renewables in the Group’s asset portfolio. Białystok-based Electrum delivered the project, bringing Polish expertise to an investment that strengthens the refinery’s energy security.

ORLEN steps up renewables investment with new hybrid solar and wind project

The ORLEN Group has completed the acquisition of a 216 MW hybrid renewable energy project. The complex, combining a solar PV farm with a wind farm, will be developed in the municipality of Kazimierz Biskupi in the Greater Poland region. It is expected to generate approximately 315 GWh of electricity a year, enough to meet the needs of nearly 143,000 households. Polish companies will deliver the project using cable pooling, which allows solar and wind installations to share grid connection infrastructure more efficiently.

First electricity from CCGT Grudziądz delivered to national grid: major milestone reached in one of ORLEN’s flagship projects

CCGT Grudziądz, a new combined cycle gas turbine power plant, has successfully delivered its first electricity to Poland’s national power grid, reaching a key commissioning milestone. Once operational, the plant will be capable of supplying electricity to around one million households thus strengthening the country’s energy security.

A historic milestone: the wind farm in the Baltic Sea delivers first power to the Polish grid

Electricity generated by the Baltic Power offshore wind farm has entered Poland’s national power grid today. This marks a historic moment for the Polish energy sector and one of the final stages in the development of Poland’s first wind farm in the Baltic Sea. 54 of 76 turbines have already been installed offshore, with the first now generating electricity. Construction is scheduled for completion this autumn.

Fifty of the 76 turbines planned for the Baltic Power offshore wind farm have now been installed. Poland’s most advanced offshore wind project has entered its final phase of construction. Critical infrastructure testing is underway and preparations are in progress to begin supplying electricity to the national grid. Developed jointly by the ORLEN Group and Northland Power, Poland’s first offshore wind farm will generate approximately 4 TWh of electricity annually, enough to meet around 3% of the country’s current power demand.

All foundations installed as Baltic Power moves closer to completion

The installation of all 78 foundations, called monopiles, has been completed at Poland’s first offshore wind farm. More than 20 vessels, along with 500 crew members and contractor representatives, have been involved in the offshore construction campaign. Baltic Power, a joint project between the ORLEN Group and Northland Power, is now progressing to its next phase. Electricity generated in the Baltic Sea is set to be supplied to the grid by the end of this year.

ORLEN accelerates its LNG expansion: more deliveries, stronger fleet and growing import capacity

2025 was a record-breaking year for the LNG segment in Poland. Shipments of liquefied natural gas received by the ORLEN Group at the Świnoujście terminal amounted to 81 – up by 20 compared with the previous year. The total volume of seaborne LNG imports reached almost 6 million tonnes, representing an increase of 30% year on year.
