Mr. Daniel Obajtek appointed to the position of the President of the Company’s Management Board for the next term of office

PKN ORLEN S.A. (“Company”) announces that the Minister of the State Assets, acting as an entity authorized to exercise the rights attached to the Company's shares owned by the Polish Stare Treasury, appointed Mr. Daniel Obajtek to the Company’s Management Board for the new joint term of office, starting from the date of the Ordinary General Meeting that will approve financial statement for 2022. 

Subsequently, the Company’s Supervisory Board appointed Mr. Daniel Obajtek to hold the position of the President of PKN ORLEN Management Board during the new joint term of office of the Company’s Management Board.

 

Mr Daniel Obajtek has been the President of the Management Board, Chief Executive Officer of PKN ORLEN since February 6th, 2018. Previously, from 2017 to February 2018, he was the President of the Management Board of Energa S.A. In 2016-2017, Mr Daniel Obajtek headed the Agency for Restructuring and Modernisation of Agriculture. From July 2016 to February 2018, he was a member of the Supervisory Board of LOTOS Biopaliwa. From June 2016 to February 2018, he was the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of DALMOR S.A. As the President of the Management Board of PKN ORLEN, he created a strong multi-energy group, a clear leader in Central and Eastern Europe. Thanks to the acquisitions of LOTOS Group and PGNiG completed in 2022, and earlier of Energa, Ruch or Polska Press, today the ORLEN Group has the potential to implement multi-billion investments strengthening the security and energy independence of Poland and even Central Europe. Consequently, it can effectively carry out the energy transformation in the markets where it operates. Under the leadership of Mr Daniel Obajtek, an integrated, modern group was created, which will generate ca. PLN 400 bn in revenue annually and serve ca.150 m customers.

As part of the updated ORLEN2030 strategy, the company is planning record high investments in renewable energy, upstream and the development of green energy projects, including the area of biogas and biofuels. The company is also continuing to develop hydrogen technology, modern petrochemicals and safe nuclear power. For the implementation of strategic projects, by the end of this decade, the company will allocate ca. PLN 320 bn. PKN ORLEN was the first Central European fuel company to declare the goal of achieving carbon emission neutrality in 2050. 

An extremely important element of ORLEN Group's activities is also strengthening energy security, not only in Poland, but in the entire region. This is possible thanks to the effective diversification of raw material supplies to Poland implemented intensively after 2015.

Mr Daniel Obajtek is a graduate of the Executive MBA programme run by the Gdańsk Foundation for Management Development and validated by IAE Aix-Marseille Graduate School of Management. He is a member of the Programme Council of the Economic Forum in Karpacz, Chairman of the Board of the Polish Olympic Committee and winner of multiple awards, notably: the Polish Compass 2018 and President of the Year 2018 in the Bulls and Bears award of the Gazeta Giełdy i Inwestorów Parkiet daily. In 2019, he was awarded the Lech Kaczyński Prometheus Award. From the Judging Panel of the Employers of Poland, he received the Vector 2019 award. During the Economic Forum in Karpacz in September 2020, he was awarded the "Person of the Year" title. In 2020, he was awarded by the readers of the Parkiet daily with the title: Star of the Year 2020. In ‘The Most Reliable in Polish Economy’ ranking organised by the ISB News agency, he received a statuette twice – in 2020 and 2022. In 2021, he was awarded Person of the Year title by the Wprost weekly and Person of Freedom title by the Sieci weekly. In 2022, he won the ‘Golden Ribbon’ Economic Award in the Investment category from the Development Vision Forum. In the same year, appreciating the construction of a strong Central European multi-energy group, the Waclaw Felczak Institute for Polish-Hungarian Cooperation awarded him a special prize "Guardian of Values - Custos Virtutum." With the same justification, Poland academics of the Academic Civic Club honored Mr Daniel Obajtek with a statue of the President Lech Kaczynski.

 

 

Mr Daniel Obajtek submitted the written statement that he does not perform and upon taking up the position of the President of PKN ORLEN Management Board for the new term of office he will not be involved in any activity competitive to PKN ORLEN S.A., nor he is or he will  be a partner in competitive civil, partnership or capital companies, nor he does or he will  participate in any other competitive legal persons as a member of their bodies.

 

Mr Daniel Obajtek also stated that he is not listed in the Register of Insolvent Debtors, kept pursuant to the Act of 20 August 1997 on the National Court Register (i.e. Journal of Laws of 2019, item 1500, as amended).
