ORLEN has secured PLN 2.5 billion to finance green investments

ORLEN has successfully completed a EUR 600 million issue of green Eurobonds. The offering generated strong investor interest, with demand exceeding the issue size by a factor of 2.5. The proceeds will be used to finance energy transition projects and initiatives aimed at mitigating climate change.

ORLEN Collaborates with MIT and the University of Cambridge

The challenges of Europe’s energy transition and its implications for regional energy security and geopolitics were the central topics of the scientific conference “Powering Europe’s Future”, jointly organised by ORLEN, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and the University of Cambridge in Warsaw. ORLEN continues to expand its cooperation with leading academic institutions worldwide and is strengthening its research and development capabilities, allocating up to PLN 27 million to R&D activities this year.

ORLEN Group secures over PLN 1.7 billion in National Recovery Plan funding for its hydrogen projects

Green H2 and Hydrogen Eagle – two strategic programmes of the ORLEN Group – have received a total of PLN 1.7 billion in non-repayable funding under the National Recovery Plan. The grant support will be used to produce renewable hydrogen via electrolysis powered by renewable energy sources, as well as low-emission hydrogen derived from municipal waste.

ORLEN opens Poland’s first offshore wind farm installation terminal – first contract already signed

ORLEN Neptun, part of the ORLEN Group, has launched an offshore wind farm installation terminal in Świnoujście, the first facility of its kind in Poland and one of the most advanced in Europe. It will serve as a key base for the Group’s phase two offshore wind projects and will also be available to external operators. ORLEN Neptun has signed its first long-term contract with Ocean Winds, a Spanish-French consortium that ranks among the world’s leading offshore wind developers. The Świnoujście terminal will ultimately support the installation of several dozen wind turbines per year, becoming the most important offshore wind installation hub in the Baltic Sea region.

Poland’s first offshore wind farm on the Baltic Sea moves closer to completion – ORLEN Group reaches another key milestone

The ORLEN Group has reached another milestone in the development of offshore wind energy. Poland’s first operations and maintenance base dedicated to offshore wind farms is now operational in Łeba. The port infrastructure, built from the ground up, will support the Baltic Power offshore wind farm currently under construction by ORLEN in partnership with Canada’s Northland Power. Already playing a key role in the ongoing offshore construction process, the base will support the launch of Poland’s first offshore wind farm on the Baltic Sea, scheduled for completion next year.

Antarctica under ORLEN’s wings – new protected area to be established in cooperation with the Polish Academy of Sciences

ORLEN, in partnership with the Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IBB PAS), is launching a project to designate a new Antarctic Specially Protected Area (ASPA) in one of the most inaccessible regions on the planet. Stable supply of electricity at affordable prices, achieving full independence of the Baltic Sea region from Russian supplies, as well as clean air, thanks to joint projects for the development of new technologies, including hydrogen, are potential benefits of cooperation between the Baltic countries, according to a new report by the ORLEN Group and S&P Agency. The report assesses the progress of the energy transition in the region and identifies opportunities for collaboration to accelerate decarbonisation efforts. It outlines specific areas of cooperation and their expected outcomes, following an in-depth analysis of conditions across eight countries: Poland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia.

ORLEN and Equinor to collaborate on CCS technology

ORLEN, in partnership with Norway’s Equinor – one of Europe’s largest energy companies – will explore opportunities within Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) technology. The management boards of both companies have just signed a collaboration agreement, its scope covering the transport and storage of carbon dioxide (CO₂) in Poland. The solution will reduce CO2 emissions into the atmosphere, supporting the decarbonization of industry.

ORLEN earns high global environmental rating

The ORLEN Group has achieved a strong rating in an independent global environmental assessment conducted by the CDP, an environmental rating organisation. The company received a ‘B’ score in the Climate category, a significant improvement from previous years when it was rated ‘D’. This leap in performance underscores ORLEN’s awareness of its influence on the planet and commitment to systematically mitigate its environmental impacts.
