ORLEN Group increases its oil reserves in Norway

The Øst Frigg Beta/Epsilon discovery, where the ORLEN Group's PGNiG Upstream Norway is a licence partner, may contain twice as much oil as previously assumed. The recent discovery increases total resources of Yggdrasil and is considered as a possible tie-in to the development – one of the largest projects currently developed on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. The ORLEN Group is a partner in the Yggdrasil development.

ORLEN Group integrates its production assets in Norway

In early May, PGNiG Upstream Norway acquired the production assets of LOTOS Exploration and Production Norge, the ORLEN Group’s other Norwegian-based company. The consolidated entity is a top ten company operating on the Norwegian Continental Shelf in terms of hydrocarbon reserves and production, accounting for half of the Group’s output. The integration of upstream operations will facilitate investments that will help increase hydrocarbon production and further strengthen the ORLEN Group’s position in Norway, a market of key importance to Poland’s energy security.

ORLEN Group with new in-house capabilities for offshore wind

The ORLEN Group company LOTOS Petrobaltic has equipped Poland’s first vessel with a drilling system for geoengineering seabed surveys at depths of up to 120 metres. As a result, the ORLEN Group will be able to undertake seabed surveys for wind power development supporting its own projects and providing services to external clients. The vessel will commence work under its first commercial contract in Lithuanian waters later in the first quarter of 2023.

ORLEN and PGNiG have started drilling an exploratory well in Wielkopolska

Miłosław-5K/H exploratory well, drilled based on the license Kórnik-Środa (no. 32/96/p) for the exploration and appraisal of hydrocarbons is located in Winna Góra, in Środa Wielkopolska commune, średzki district, wielkopolskie voivodeship. The investment is carried out by PGNiG in cooperation with the PKN ORLEN’s upstream subsidary, FX Energy incorporated into the ORLEN Group by the end of 2015. Joint operations are performed with regard to the operator agreement. PGNiG owns 51% of shares and FX Energy remaining 49% of shares.

ORLEN acquires another upstream company in Canada

PKN ORLEN, through its subsidiary ORLEN Upstream Canada, entered into an agreement whereby the process of acquisition of 100% of shares in Kicking Horse Energy commenced. The equity purchase price is approximately CAD 293 million (ca. PLN 842 million), which represents CAD 4.75 (PLN 13,65) per share. The transaction will be finalised upon the fulfilment of all the terms and conditions of the agreement. The planned date for the transaction closing in 4Q, 2015.
